Since 2020 rolled around, there has been a lot of talk about the concept of “languishing”.
If you haven’t heard about it before, it’s a state where you’re tired and overwhelmed, but you kind of want to do things. You’re lacking energy, enthusiasm, and motivation. You’re not completely depressed because you do believe that things will eventually get better. “Languishing” was coined by Dr. Corey Keys. It’s not depression, but it’s the absence and insufficiency of feeling good and functioning well. He said it’s when you experience an absence of the good stuff, purpose, belonging, contribution, satisfaction, and interest in life.
This absence can feel like a real piercing void in your day to day life. Today, we talk about how to recognize languishing in your own mind, and what strategies you can use to live with it.
