What makes you come alive?

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” – Howard Thurman Philosopher

I recently re-watched the Ted Talk Do Schools Kill Creativity by Sir Ken Robinson with a few of my clients. In the talk, he makes a compelling argument that adults grow out of their creative capabilities, not into them – because of fear.

Fear of being wrong.

Fear of taking a risk.

As a result, we do what others think we should do, instead of what we want to do.

The problem with this is, if we don’t take responsibility for ourselves, we will blame others for how we feel, act and the results we get in life.

So, my question is: What makes you come alive? Why?

How does it feel when you do it?

We are driven by our feelings: our desire to feel good. Our desire to avoid feeling bad.

If you don’t know what makes you come alive, then think back to when you were a child, before being right or wrong set in.

What did you create? How did it feel?

As an adult have you discovered new passions? Do you make space for them in your life?

Why or why not?

Do you like your reason?

It is never too late to explore new things. Take a chance.

If you are stuck, we can help you uncover dreams and passions that will help you come alive again.
